He went to see Dr. Scott after a referral from his wife, who had previously visited the office for a consultation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Scott could correct the ptosis problem, but he informed George that a second surgery might be necessary. \u201cOnce the eyelid goes up, it pushes the skin above back down,\u201d George recalls Dr. Scott\u2019s explanation. \u201cI asked him why he couldn\u2019t do both surgeries at the same time.\u201d Dr. Scott explained that not all patients suffer from excess skin, and he wouldn\u2019t know how much to remove until it appeared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018That makes sense,\u2019\u201d George remembers, \u201cbut sure as anything, that skin started drooping above the eyelid. It got to the point where I was trying to read the newspaper while holding up my eyelid. So, I went back to Dr. Scott.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We caught up with George one week after his blepharoplasty to remove his excess eyelid skin. \u201cWhen I came out of surgery, I looked like a zombie,\u201d he laughs. \u201cBut in a couple of days, most of the swelling and discoloration was gone. If you walked in here right now, you\u2019d have no idea I had surgery.\u201d He\u2019s eager to return to his golf game, though Dr. Scott told him he must wait several weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the process, George was most impressed by Dr. Scott\u2019s thoroughness and transparency. \u201cDr. Scott is just an outstanding guy,\u201d he says. \u201cHe\u2019s a good listener and he takes his time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>George uses his experience shortly before surgery as an example. \u201cI\u2019ve had several surgeries,\u201d he says, \u201cand the doctor usually just pops in beforehand and says, \u2018You ready?\u2019 But Dr. Scott came in, sat down, closed the curtains, and said, \u2018What questions do you have?\u2019 He sat there for 20 minutes talking to me.
